What is your claim to fame?
AtBellacara we offer personalized, knowledgeable service by highly-trained staff.  We work hard to find the right product for our customer and offer over 40 different product lines. 

What makes you original and unique?
Unlikeso many beauty emporiums, we don't stock our store with every beauty product to hit the market.  We personally test each line that we bring in and consider editing to be one of our most important duties.  We havecarefully selected the beauty products we offer in order to take the guesswork out of finding the best products on the market.   We like to say that Bellacara offers the best the beauty industry has to offer.

Who or what inspired you to come to Alexandria?
Ashomeowners in Old Town, we already knew how special the area is.  We love shopping the stores in Old Town and we felt that a store like Bellacara would be a welcome addition to Old Town's offerings.

What is your secret to success?
We work hard, we appreciate our customers, and we never forget to evolve with the times.

What is your proudest achievement?
Wehave been in business for almost nine years.  We closed the store for acouple of days for renovations a few years ago.  The number of pleadingknocks on the door and desperate phone calls expressing concern that wehad closed showed us we were truly an appreciated part of Old Town.  Wehave become very good friends with many of our customers and we have grown to be something of an institution. 

Favorite places to go for brunch, happy hour, dinner under the stars, lunch deals, and places to take your dog?
For brunch, we recommend Overwood.

If you had friends visiting Alexandria what would you tell them to do and see during their visit?
Whenwe have friends visiting Alexandria, we love taking them for long walksalong King Street and along the quaint side streets.  We like to take them to the Saturday Farmer's Market, for coffee at Firehook Bakery and to visit all the neighborhood boutiques.   Since most of our friends also have children, we suggest taking their families to the park on Union and Gibbon Streets and packing a picnic lunch or dinner to enjoy on the lawn.  We also encourage them to take advantage of the many special events happening in Old Town.
