Alexandria, VA (September 9, 2008) - International tourism expert Adam Sacks, Founder and Managing Director of Tourism Economics, will keynote the Annual Membership Meeting and Reception hosted by the Alexandria Convention & Visitors Association at the Crowne Plaza Old Town Alexandria on September 25, 4 - 7 p.m.

Sacks is considered one of the industry's most trusted experts on the travel economy and an engaging speaker. An authority on the economic impact of tourism, he has worked with travel destinations at local, national and international levels as well as multi-national travel businesses, advising on market positioning and tourism investment initiatives.

The Alexandria Convention & Visitors Association invites Alexandria's businesses and residents to also join in celebrating the successes of the past tourism year and preview new tourism initiatives for 2009 at this meeting.

During 2008, the City of Alexandria and its tourism and business communities readied the City to extend a warm welcome to its guests arriving from National Harbor and other neighboring communities and from around the country and the world. The Visit Alexandria directed an intensive brand study, engaging the community in the process, to lay a foundation for new marketing and advertising programs and the development of a new tourism website, all of which will be previewed at the meeting.

Presentations are from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m., followed by the reception from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. A donation of $25 is requested, $12 for additional attendees. To RSVP by September 22 and pay with credit card, call 703-838-4200, ext. 204. Payment may be mailed to: Visit Alexandria 421 King Street, Suite 300, Alexandria, VA 22314.
