Water Taxi and Metro to Inauguration

Alexandria offers easy access to the swearing-in ceremony on the National Mall. The Inaugural Water Taxi service will depart from the Alexandria City Marina. Presented by Potomac Riverboat Company.

The Metro offers an easy 15 minute ride from King St-Old Town Metro station to L'Enfant Plaza at the National Mall.

Metro is preparing to transport hundreds of thousands of visitors this weekend. As in past years, Metro is planning an increased level of service to accommodate the high ridership. Alexandria Restaurant Week: Inaugural Edition

From January 18 - 27, 2013, Alexandria celebrates the inauguration with a special edition of Restaurant Week. Kicking off inaugural weekend and lasting for 10 days, Alexandria's presidential hotspots and more than 50 eateries are offering $35 three-course dinners or $35 dinners for two. Obama Date Nights

Revelers can celebrate in style at top Alexandria restaurants chosen by Barack and Michelle Obama for their romantic milestones. The First Couple celebrated their 2011 wedding anniversary at Restaurant Eve, where they were treated to delicacies by Chef Cathal Armstrong. Patrons can enjoy their own complete meal experience or visit the finely appointed bar for handcrafted cocktails by preeminent mixologist Todd Thrasher. Vermilion was the Obamas' selection for Valentine's Day in 2012, when Chef Tony Chittum crafted a meal in his signature style with farm-to-table, seasonal ingredients. Patrons can also enjoy the Vermilion lounge serving fresh cocktails that are also driven by seasonal ingredients with a different theme each month.
