Constructed in 1918 for the manufacturing of torpedoes, the Torpedo Factory now features 82 working artists' studios, six galleries, the Art League School, Alexandria Archaeology Museum, and a cafe and gift shop. Open daily 10am-6pm (Thursdays until 9pm). Free.
In collaboration with the Target Gallery’s "Trash Talk" exhibition, and in celebration of Earth Day, "Beauty and the Waste" is an all-media exhibition in Site 2 & 3 Galleries featuring work by Torpedo Factory artists made from the commonly recycled materials of glass, plastic, paper and metal. Visitors are encouraged to recycle in the four different bins placed throughout the exhibit, provided by The Transportation & Environmental Services of Alexandria. View Details
Target Gallery presents Beyond Function, an exhibition focusing on non-functional ceramic artwork. These works go beyond utility, seeking to be valued for their aesthetic quality over their usefulness. In addition, juror Novie Trump and Laurel Lukaszewski will create a site-specific ceramic installation outside of the gallery. Join us for a reception on Thursday, May 9th from 6-8 p.m. to meet some of the artists and hear a juror talk at 7 p.m. View Details
