Marine Corps Marathon Shuttle from Alexandria
Visit Alexandria will provide courtesy shuttle service for Marine Corps Marathon runners who are staying at Alexandria hotels on the morning of Sunday, October 30. Express shuttles will be provided every 15 minutes from 5:15 am – 6:45 am, leaving King Street Metro station, and dropping runners off at the official runner drop-off area on Army Navy Drive in Arlington. First preference on the shuttles will be given to runners staying at Alexandria hotels, showing either a room key or a guest receipt. Other runners and spectators will be accommodated on a space available basis. Starting at 7:00 am, the Metro will operate its normal Sunday schedule.
In response to the Metrorail's yearlong Safe Track rebuilding program, Marine Corps Marathon organizers have previously announced some race-day changes. The marathon will start as originally scheduled with the wheelchair racers at 7:40 and runners at 7:55 a.m. But all runners have a full hour — until 8:55 a.m. — to begin the 26.2-mile course. The extended start window is intended to accommodate runners who experience transportation delays the morning of the race.
