Alexandria's Amtrak station in the heart of Old Town offers easy access to Alexandria's arts, shopping and history from locations in the Midwest, Northeast and South.

Five Amtrak routes stop in Alexandria:

  • Cardinal/Hoosier State (Chicago to New York City)
  • Northeast Regional (Boston to Newport News, VA)
  • Carolinian/Piedmont (New York City to Charlotte, NC)
  • Crescent (New Orleans to New York City)
  • Silver Service/Palmetto (Miami to New York City)

From Alexandria's Amtrak station, it's only a 25 minute walk to the Potomac River waterfront by way of historic King Street - or, visitors can take the Free King Street Trolley from the King St-Old Town Metrorail station.
