We know that even as masking and distancing restrictions ease, safety is a top priority when visiting Alexandria’s local restaurants, shops, or staying overnight at our hotels. The Alexandria Health Department and Visit Alexandria continue to be committed to lowering risk with the ALX Promise Gold program, which focuses on ongoing training, reporting cases and employee vaccination efforts. The ALX Promise Gold shield displayed on a business’ window indicates that they have committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment using the highest safety standards. This program is an evolution of the ALX Promise program launched in May 2020, which focused on safety guidelines at that time with hundreds of participating businesses.

The Meaning Behind the Gold Promise

The ALX Promise Gold shield represents that a business:

Thoroughly cleans and sanitizes their establishment

Ensures their staff members are trained on COVID-19 precautions, state guidelines and safety measures

Keeps current on health guidance as Alexandria moves forward

Offers employees paid time off to get tested if they feel sick, and to be vaccinated against COVID-19

Works with the Alexandria Health Department to stop the spread of COVID-19 and ensures any exposed staff or customers are notified
