Visit Alexandria Extends Alexandria Restaurant Week To-Go

Over 50 Restaurants to Continue $49 Takeout Menus for Two through Labor Day

Alexandria, VA - More than 50 restaurants in Alexandria, Virginia have elected to continue offering a $49 takeout dinner for two as part of the extended Alexandria Restaurant Week To-Go, running for an additional eight days through Labor Day, Sept. 7, 2020. The promotion has been extended past the original Aug. 21-30 time frame to give diners in the region another week to take advantage of the to-go offers and sample more menus while supporting the local restaurant community.

The online menu book makes it easy to browse delicious selections from dozens of Alexandria eateries. No menu offering is the same – from appetizer, entrée and bottle of wine packages to three-course meals for two with mouth-watering desserts plus add-on options of cocktails to-go, there is undoubtedly a menu suited to everyone.

The new to-go model for Alexandria Restaurant Week reflects current customer desire to enjoy restaurant meals at home while providing new opportunities to support Alexandria’s community of locally owned restaurants. The success of Alexandria’s independent restaurant scene is critical to the city’s small business economy and essential to preserving a beloved experience of the city for residents and visitors alike as these local establishments weather the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

New Alexandria Restaurant Week participants include Taqueria Picoso, Glory Days Grill, The Light Horse, Sweet Fire Donna’s and Mount Vernon Inn. Restaurants offering delivery (distance limitations may apply) in addition to takeout or curbside pick-up, include Bugsy’s Pizza Restaurant and Sports Bar, Daniel O’Connell’s Irish Restaurant & Pub, Blackwall Hitch and Whiskey and Oyster, among others. From local family-owned restaurant favorites to restaurants specializing in international cuisine, guests will savor the flavors of Alexandria's distinctive collection of eateries.

Alexandria Restaurant Week To-Go Highlights:

  • Black-owned business Haute Dogs & Fries, founded in 2010 by co-owners Lionel Holmes and Pamela Swanson, features a lobster roll dinner for two with kettle chips and a bottle of chardonnay.
  • Executive chef Raul Alvarez of Murphy's Grand Irish Pub is a native from El Salvador whose extensive ethnic cuisine knowledge ranging from French and Greek to Italian and Irish has lent him much success in the culinary industry for almost 30 years. Alvarez’s menu features Filet Mignon with Chive Butter, Duck a I’Cherry, paired with a bottle of red of white wine and Jameson Cake for dessert.
  • After a complete refresh in January 2020, Bastille Brassiere & Bar’s chefs Christophe and Michelle Poteaux celebrate 14 years in Alexandria and offer a fabulous French experience featuring French Onion Soup and Pot de Crème au Chocolat.
  • Since 1973, Il Porto has been a local favorite for traditional Italian cuisine. Now, executive chef Miguel Ferman’s Restaurant Week To-Go menu features entrees such as Manicotti alla Fiorentina paired with a bottle of red or white wine and tiramisu.
  • Chef Andreas Lazo has worked with Mike and Donna Anderson, the owners of Sweet Fire Donna’s, for 36 years, starting as a dishwasher and now holding a head chef and managing partner title at Sweet Fire Donna’s. The restaurant’s BBQ for two offering features Jumbo Pork Spare Ribs, Donna’s Sweet Cornbread and a bottle of the family’s Original Sauce.
