Visit Alexandria Launches ALXNetWORKS, a Community for Alexandria-Based Meetings and Events Professionals

Alexandria, VA—Visit Alexandria is pleased to announce the launch of ALXNetWORKS, Alexandria’s insider industry resource. The new community will connect Alexandria-based meetings and events professionals, welcoming them at special networking events, introducing them to Alexandria’s vast array of offerings and businesses, and providing them with an online platform for idea sharing and connection. Spearheaded by Visit Alexandria, ALXNetWORKS is founded by Alexandria meetings and events professionals.

“With more than 400 associations headquartered in Alexandria and an abundance of hotels, venues, restaurants and suppliers, we wanted to create a forum where industry professionals could connect with their peers both online and in person at interactive quarterly events,” said Lorraine Lloyd, vice president of sales and international marketing for Visit Alexandria. “In addition, members will have access to a comprehensive calendar of Alexandria’s industry events.”

Senior-level meeting planners representing a broad spectrum of industry sectors founded ALXNetWORKS, including Carla Bascope-Hebble, destination sales manager for Visit Alexandria; Stephanie Fix, association sales manager for The Westin Alexandria; Annee Gillett, director of catering for The Alexandrian, Autograph Collection and Morrison House, Autograph Collection; Susan Haning, CEM, CMP, business development director for Freeman Company; Denise Jackson, vice president of business development and managing director of the Washington, D.C. office of AH; Emily Klassen, event sales and marketing director for Alexandria Restaurant Partners; and Lauren Kramer, CAE, founder and principal of Meeting Priorities, LLC.

“As an Old Town Alexandria resident and business owner, I am excited to be part of ALXNetWORKS, celebrating the uniqueness that is Alexandria and the many businesses that call our city 'home base',” said Kramer. “I look forward to further building unity in our community.”

ALXNetWORKS launched on October 11, 2018 with a non-traditional networking event featuring an ALX Backyard Barre class followed by Healthy Hour at The Alexandrian, Autograph Collection. The event was sponsored by The Alexandrian, Pure Barre and South Block Juice. View a recap of the launch event here
