$790 Million in Visitor Spending Generates $26.6 Million in Local Tax Receipts

Alexandria, VA–Visit Alexandria announced a new immersive experience of Alexandria along with record visitor spending numbers at its annual meeting on September 25, 2017. Visit Alexandria 360 is a virtual reality tour that brings a new dimension to the Extraordinary Alexandria brand. It allows users to explore the city in 360° through VisitAlexandriaVA.com/360 or its mobile app that can be used with virtual reality headsets. “360 and VR are increasingly what travelers are thirsting for,” said Patricia Washington, president and CEO of Visit Alexandria. “According to a 2017 study by Destination Analysts, more than half of travelers surveyed said they would be interested in using VR for travel inspiration. We are proud to be among the early adopters at the forefront of this new trend.”

Visit Alexandria also announced a 360 project aimed at increasing Alexandria’s visibility on Google.
