What’s New with Alexandria’s Hotel Portfolio in 2017

Recognized by Condé Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure and TripAdvisor for outstanding hospitality, Alexandria’s distinctive collection of hotels ranging from mid-level to four-star luxury is evolving, with big developments happening in late 2016 and more expected in 2017. Coming this year is Alexandria’s first waterfront hotel, Hotel Indigo Old Town Alexandria, on the heels of the recent conversion of two properties to Marriott Autograph Collection boutique hotels—The Alexandrian, Autograph Collection and Morrison House, Autograph Collection. Last year, five of the city’s hotels were renovated, including Hilton Alexandria Mark Center and The Westin Alexandria.

Within eyesight of Washington, D.C. on the Potomac River waterfront, Alexandria, Virginia is where authentic history and urban sophistication unite, where trendy restaurants, independent art galleries and chic boutiques pulse with creative energy, and where every detail for your next meeting is taken care of by a team of destination experts. Alexandria, which has more than 4,700 guest rooms and can accommodate groups of up to 800, is an ideal destination for small to mid-size meetings. Rated one of the 25 best cities in the U.S. for millennials and one of the top five safest small cities in America, Alexandria is a walkable city just three miles from the Reagan National Airport and is served by four Metrorail stations, Amtrak, water taxis and a free King Street Trolley.

Alexandria’s First Riverfront Hotel Adds to Waterfront Evolution
Within eyesight of Washington, D.C. on the Potomac River, Alexandria welcomes its first-ever waterfront hotel, the highly anticipated Hotel Indigo Old Town Alexandria opening in the spring of 2017. Touches of Alexandria’s colonial past blend with contemporary design at the 120-room, five-story-high boutique hotel nestled on a riverside site where a 300-year old ship was discovered and excavated during the hotel’s development. The hotel will feature a 5,000-square-foot terrace on the exterior of the building, oriented toward the river. Fire pits and food and drink service will be available for both the hotel guests and the general public. A restaurant and bar will serve locally sourced and seasonal fare with a heavy regional influence. The hotel will also offer upscale, intimate flexible meeting space for board meetings and other VIP events in their boardroom, library and private dining room.

Marriott Autograph Collection Raises Two New Flags in Alexandria
Alexandria’s hotel portfolio continues to evolve following the addition of two Marriott Autograph Collection boutique hotels in Old Town in late 2016 that were formerly Kimpton properties. Four blocks from the waterfront, located on historic King  Street, The Alexandrian, Autograph Collection is a 241-room hotel with more than 8,000 square feet of meeting space and accommodations for groups up to 180, offering a luxurious design in the heart of Old Town with access to local museums, restaurants, shops, historic Mount Vernon and Washington, D.C. A few blocks away and just off King Street is Morrison House, Autograph Collection, an elegant, yet approachable and bold, yet undeniably classic four-star, 45-room hotel that was renovated in 2016 and features 2,000 square feet of meeting space that accommodates up to 80 people.
