Winning Boats of the 2021 Alexandria Holiday Boat Parade of Lights sponsored by Amazon

Alexandria, VA – More than 50 boats competed for prizes in ten categories at the 21st annual Alexandria Holiday Boat Parade of Lights sponsored by Amazon on Saturday, December 4, 2021. Thousands of locals and visitors came out to experience one of the region’s most beloved holiday traditions at Alexandria’s historic waterfront. The mile-long parade was led by Alexandria’s fireboat Relief and Washington, D.C.’s fireboat John H. Glenn, and closed with the Ever Vigilant Fire Boat 57 from the Prince George’s County Volunteer Marine Fire and Rescue Station 57.

Best of Alexandria Show sponsored by Myron Mixon's Pitmaster BBQ was awarded to Santé and Captain Daniel Ricks who presented "COEXIST" in white lights and more than 40 colorful trees. Best Powerboat went to Kairos and Captain Tipper Williams Bradford for "Santa & His Cast of Characters" featuring lights, Santa and a cheerful crew in costumes. Best Sailboat was awarded to Dark Star and Captain Doug Savage for "The Island of Misfit Toys,” featuring twinkling lights and costumed toy characters including the bird-that-swims positioned halfway up the sailboat’s mast. The parade’s dockside festivities included a pop-up beer garden from Alexandria’s award-winning Port City Brewing Company and holiday music and giveaways from 97.1 WASH-FM. Hands-on activities from independently owned Alexandria businesses include a Letters to Santa postcard station from paper goods boutique Penny Post and a holiday ornament craft activity from AR Workshop Alexandria. Guests enjoyed savory bites from the new Mae’s Market and Café, gourmet popcorn from America’s Favorite Gourmet Popcorn and a hot chocolate bar from Dolci Gelati. At 3:30 p.m., Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived by fireboat at the Alexandria City Marina before attending the annual Torpedo Factory Art Center Holiday Festival.

The Alexandria Holiday Boat Parade of Lights sponsored by Amazon is part of Alexandria’s biggest holiday weekend which also featured events of the Campagna Center’s 50th Anniversary Scottish Christmas Walk Weekend and Parade.

The Alexandria Holiday Boat Parade of Lights sponsored by Amazon is one of two boat parades along the Potomac River, with the District’s Holiday Boat Parade taking place the same evening at 7 p.m. at The Wharf in Washington, D.C.
