Explore the fundamentals of being upside down with the solid support of the wall. Develop a safe inversion practice by building on a strong foundation. Alignment and basic principles of going upside down will be covered in detail. Experience short sequences to warm up appropriate muscle groups to prepare for each inversion.
We'll also incorporate assistive props (blocks, straps, blankets) along with step-by-step instructions on how to balance on your head and hands.
Continue to use what you learn here at home or in group classes to deepen and grow your inversion practice. Already comfortable going upside down? Come explore the nuances of alignment and try these poses away from the wall!
Inversions we plan to cover include:
· Crow/Crane Pose (Kakasana/Bakasana) and variations
· Supported Shoulderstand (Salamba Sarvangasana)
· Supported Headstand (Salamba Sirsasana)
· Tripod Headstand (Sirsasana II)
· Forearm balance (Pincha Mayurasana)
· Handstand (Adho Mukha Vrksasana)
*This workshop is not recommended for those with serious neck or shoulder injuries, high blood pressure, glaucoma, blood clots, or pregnant women.
** No prior inversion experience is required though some yoga experience is recommended.
