    This workshop is for moms 6 weeks postpartum and beyond who want to learn about rebuilding functional strength to their core after childbirth. In this workshop you will:

    • Practice core strengthening and rebuilding exercises
    • Look at the physiological changes that occur during pregnancy and the postpartum period
    • Work on alignment retraining and proper body mechanics for life with baby
    • Discuss everyday exercises to help rebuild functional strength
    • practice various breathing techniques
    • Learn about diastasis recti (abdominal separation) and what you can do to heal and strengthen a diastasis
    • Discover ways to engage, as well as increase the functional strength and resiliency of your pelvic floor muscles
    • Discuss contraindications for exercise during the postpartum period, as well as modifications you can apply in your own activities and classes to help protect and rebuild your core.

    ABOUT THE TEACHER KATE

    As a certified prenatal fitness educator, doula, and childbirth educator, Kate has been working with mothers and babies for over five years. Her background in dance has led her to having a great interest in the physical changes that pregnancy brings about and how mothers can both honor and strengthen their bodies during this unique time in their lives. Kate brings her love of movement, as well as her experience in the childbirth profession into her classes and workshops as she comes alongside mothers helping to empower, support and educate. 

    Kate has worked closely with Sara Lavan, owner of Local Motion Studio, in creating these workshops, with the goal of continuing, and improving, on the work she has successfully done for a decade as a prenatal and post partum movement specialist.
