    The labor of African Americans, both free and enslaved, was critical to Alexandria's development and to John Gadsby's success as a tavernkeeper. Join this intimate, interactive, hour-long, dialogue-based tour exploring urban slavery and hospitality at Gadsby's Tavern. Participants will explore how the nuances of urban slavery complicate and expand our understanding of slavery through stories, experiences, and archival traces of those enslaved by Gadsby.

    NOTE: The tour will be given at 10:00-11:30 AM and repeated from 12 noon-1:30 PM. Reserve for either section of the tour.
