Black Friday Shopping in Alexandria

Once again, the D.C. region's Shop Small headquarters—Alexandria, Virginia—welcomed shoppers on November 24, 2017 for an alternative Black Friday experience. More than 50 independent boutiques kicked off the holiday shopping season with one-of-a-kind deals on designer and coveted merchandise, including home décor, chic fashions, gourmet food, classic toys and gifts for dogs. Store offers varied, with special discounts throughout the day and 10 boutiques that opened at 6 a.m., including Pacers Running, fibre space, The Shoe Hive, Olio and Hooray for Books!

After the shopping, visitors and locals enjoyed the popular City of Alexandria Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6 p.m. on historic Market Square. As the official kick-off to the holiday season in Alexandria, the ceremony included live entertainment, a special visit from Santa Claus, and community caroling. Black Friday Alexandria was part of a weekend of “Shop Small” festivities that included a bigger-than-ever Small Business Saturday and first-ever Museum Store Sunday. Consumer trends indicate that shoppers are seeking a more satisfying experience for the whole family that also contributes to the heartbeat of a community.
