Museum Store Sunday in Alexandria

Ten historic Alexandria museum stores will participate in the first-ever Museum Store Sunday, an international campaign taking place on Sunday, November 26, 2017, rounding out a weekend of “Shop Small” festivities in Alexandria that includes an alternative Black Friday experience and bigger-than-ever Small Business Saturday. Alexandria is home to a robust collection of historic site museums that provide an authentic experience of history where it happened.

At ten participating historic site museums plus two additional museum stores, shoppers will be treated to special offers as they browse unique and historically inspired gifts, with select sites offering seasonal refreshments. Museums include George Washington’s Mount Vernon, Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum, The Lyceum: Alexandria’s History Museum, Friendship Firehouse and the Alexandria Black History Museum.

Alexandria’s historic sites offer unique gifts just in time for the holidays, like “For Medicinal Purposes Only” stemless wine glasses at the Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum, Alexandria-themed wines at Gadsby’s Tavern Museum, and an African-American cookbook collection at the Alexandria Black History Museum. Shoppers can find thematic packages at The Lyceum: Alexandria’s History Museum such as the Junior Historian Package that includes a Historic Alexandria activity book, quill pen set, a build-your-own boat kit and tri-cornered hat. Other packages include the Hamilton Lover’s Package and the Historic Alexandria Food Lover’s Package.
