The D.C. region’s Shop Small destination for independent boutiques, Alexandria, Virginia, invites shoppers to opt small and shop a local experience in a magical setting of holiday wonder. Reminiscent of a real-life Dickens Village complete with European flair, Alexandria's centuries-old brick-lined streets twinkle with holiday traditions.

Shoppers enjoyed an alternative Black Friday experience in locally owned boutiques, and, returning for a second year, Museum Store Sunday with Alexandria museum stores featuring unique and historically inspired gifts with special offers and seasonal refreshments.

Small Business Saturday was bigger than ever this year. More than 50 independently owned boutiques in Old Town Alexandria and Del Ray offered special in-store activities. The popular Elf Prize Patrol returned from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in Old Town and expanded this year to include Del Ray, treating shoppers to surprise giveaways. Other highlights included free parking at parking meters, a postcard pop-up at Penny Post (1201 King Street), and special activities at the Torpedo Factory Art Center.
