After setting sail, a tasting expert will share the history and differences among a variety of Caribbean and local rums. Bartenders will be available once you choose your favorite! Learn about the pirates of the Chesapeake and enjoy some swashbuckling music. All pirates must be over 21, please!
The tall ship Providence provides a living link to our rich maritime, naval, and Revolutionary history. Our Providence is a replica of the first ship authorized to serve in the Continental Navy and John Paul Jones' first command.
Providence arrived in Alexandria on July 1, 2019, and will open to the public in late summer. Once open, we will welcome visitors aboard to see the ship, meet John Paul Jones, and get a taste of what life was like aboard an eighteenth-century sloop. In 2020 our Visitor Center will open near the base of King Street, where we will provide a dynamic and interactive experience. Our visitors will be pulled into the dilemmas that confronted our citizens and sailors, board the ship to meet John Paul Jones or another historic character and then learn about the birth of the U.S. Navy in a multimedia presentation!
