For groups of 15 or more, special tours may be arranged with advance notice of 1-2 weeks. We prefer to schedule group visits on days we are closed to the public (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays), but we can also accommodate groups of 15 or less on days that we are open to the public (Friday-Monday, from 10-11:30am). For school tours, we require 1 adult per 15 students. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Woodlawn Bio.- George Washington gave the estate to his adopted granddaughter and his nephew as a wedding gift. Dr. William Thornton, architect of the U.S. Capitol, was then commissioned to design the mansion.
Pope-Leighey House Bio.- Frank Lloyd Wright designed the Pope-Leighey House originally in 1940 in Falls Church, VA. The house was moved from it's original location in mid 1960's to it's current location, adjacent to Woodlawn. One of only a few of Frank Lloyd Wright's Usonian homes open to the public on the East Coast.
Both sites are owned by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
