Alexandria is easily accessible by three major airports in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area:

  1. Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA) is the closest at only 10 minutes away by car, taxi, and Metrorail. Many hotels offer free airport shuttle service, too.
  2. Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) with nonstop service from over 80 domestic and 50 international destinations.
  3. Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) with more than 650 domestic and international flights daily.

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is about 10 minutes north of Old Town Alexandria by way of the George Washington Memorial Parkway. It’s also a short ride on Metrorail between the Reagan National Airport station and the King St-Old Town station.

Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)

Dulles is located about 40 minutes northwest of Old Town Alexandria by way of the Dulles Toll Road. Washington Flyer also offers bus service between Dulles and the West Falls Church Metrorail station, about a 25-minute ride. Tickets are $10 one way, $18 round trip. Click here for the schedule. (To get to Alexandria from the West Falls Church Metrorail station, take the Orange Line east to Rosslyn and transfer to the Blue Line, going south to King Street.)

Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI)

BWI is about 50 minutes northeast of Old Town Alexandria by way of Route 295. Other options include taking Amtrak from BWI to the Old Town station, or the regional MARC train to Union Station in D.C., where you can take Metrorail to Alexandria.
