On October 14 and 15, 2017, the 42nd Annual Virginia Wine Festival was held in Alexandria for the first time. Unfortunately, this event was inadequately planned, and as a result many visitors to the festival experienced crowding and unacceptably long lines. Although Visit Alexandria was not the organizer of the Wine Festival, this event still reflects on our city, and frankly we were embarrassed. As a gesture of goodwill, independent of the event organizer, Visit Alexandria is offering a pair of free “Key to the City” Museum passes to anyone who comes to our Visitor Center and shows a receipt from the Wine Festival. We want to encourage guests to return to our city for the positive, welcoming experience that is Alexandria’s hallmark.
