From water taxi to bikeshare to $2 all-day parking garages throughout Old Town, there are plenty of ways to get to and from the Portside in Old Town Summer Festival. Although Alexandria’s four Metrorail stations will be closed for renovation during this time, there are many alternative transportation options. Once you’re in Alexandria, take advantage of the free King Street trolley that runs along the King Street mile. Please note, the streets closest to the festival may have restricted access, so parking at garages within a short walk of Waterfront Park is suggested. Use the tips below and plan ahead to make getting to and from the festival a breeze.
Summer is the perfect time to bike along the Potomac on the Mount Vernon Trail or through Old Town to get to the festival. Once you’re here, use the free bike valet service provided by Two Wheel Valet located near 1A Prince Street adjacent to Waterfront Park and steps from the festival. Space is available on a first come, first served basis. All bikes must be retrieved no later than 9 p.m.
